Membership Profiles:

• Pioneers:

  • Role: Own their own businesses (e.g., permaculture consulting, EcoJunk crafting, carpentry, plumbing) and are provided a space to operate their business in the co-op village based on their trade needs (e.g., a shop, studio, or mobile setup). The village provides raw materials (e.g., recycled plastics, wood) if needed. Apprentices train under Pioneers in their trades. Pioneers are assigned a lot and may live in the top floors of their shops (if residential options are available in the village).

  • Rewards: Attendance at village events (e.g., 3-6 hour Weekend Warrior Fellowship Meetings covering Fire, Water, Air, Earth themes) or service contributions earns free or discounted Village shopping.

  • Exchange: Offer free or discounted services (e.g., free permaculture advice, discounted carpentry) and free labor (e.g., repair work)to members. Supervise apprentices, providing training in exchange for their free labor.

• Villagers:

  • Role: Operate Co-op-owned trade shops based on their trade needs (e.g., for EcoJunk crafts, jam-making, biscuits) using village-supplied raw materials (e.g., plastics, fruit, flour). Provide free labor for shop tasks (e.g., crafting, restocking, market days). Apprentices train under Villagers in shop trades. Villagers are assigned a lot and may live in the top floors of their shops (if residential).

  • Rewards: Attendance at shop tasks or village events (e.g., Stone Soup meals, market days) earns free or discounted shopping (e.g., 30% off).

  • Exchange: Provide free or discounted goods (e.g., free jam samples, discounted crafts) and free labor (e.g., shop maintenance) to members. Supervise apprentices, providing training in exchange for their free labor.

• Wanderers:

  • Apprentices (Under Pioneers or Villagers):

    • Role: Receive Training from Trade Member   Provide free labor during training (e.g., crafting, planting). Housing assigned upon availability with each location. 

    • Rewards: Attendance at training sessions earns free or discounted shopping.

    • Exchange: Offer free or discounted assistance and free labor (e.g., free help in shop production or village projects) to the village and mentors.

  • WE Sanctuary Members:

    • Role: Religious refugees/homeless in a separate program, participating in accessible tasks in village spaces, using village-supplied raw materials (e.g., seeds, kitchen supplies). Provide free labor (e.g., planting, cleanup). Housed in communal cohousing or tiny homes (if residential options are added) or use campgrounds.

    • Rewards: Attendance at tasks earns free or discounted shopping (e.g., 15% off or free essentials like food).

    • Exchange: Provide free or discounted support and free labor (e.g., free garden help, discounted event assistance).

  • One-Time/Recurring Wanderers:

    • Role: Visit once or a few times a year (e.g., from across the state for vacation-like Fellowship Meetings in village venues). Participate in events/tasks (e.g., Fire Circle, market stall help), using village-supplied raw materials (e.g., event supplies) if needed, and provide free labor (e.g., setup help). Use campgrounds with discounted rates.

    • Rewards: Attendance earns free or discounted shopping (e.g., 10% off) and discounted camping (e.g., $10/night vs. $20) on village-owned lots.

    • Exchange: Offer free or discounted minor contributions and free labor (e.g., free event help, discounted stall setup).
